I’ve got regular dust on my screen that can be blown or wiped off. But I also have these tiny spots that look like dust that are hard to remove with a cloth. I see these when the screen is off.

I don’t see these when I’m using the iPad, but I feel them. Mostly when I swipe up from the right bottom of the screen to multitask. Also feel them while scrolling.

Any idea what’s causing this and how to clean and prevent in the first place?

Thanks.

Have you tried wiping with a damp cloth?

Usually, I find those come from tiny drops of liquids that have dried up on the display. My mom’s iPad has a lot of those since she uses her iPad when she cooks. Hasn’t been as bad since I installed a screen protector but I still have to clean up with eyeglass cleaner every now and then.

I haven’t tried a wet cloth. Should I use a microfiber cloth? I don’t currently have one. Sounds silly, but do you think a damp t-shirt would do the trick? If not, can you recommend a particular microfiber cloth that would work well?

Lol, I kinda use the same microfiber cloth and solution that I got free with my eyeglasses.

You could try a damp t-shirt and if that doesn’t do the trick, switch to microfiber.

I think Apple sells kits of Whoosh+microfiber cloth at their retail stores.

I‘m not close to an Apple store. I’ll try the t-shirt first and then get a microfiber eyeglasses cloth if that doesn’t work. Thanks for your help.

I’d get a couple of microfiber cloths. I use the Woosh solution occasionally but in general, a little water and a microfiber cloth is sufficient.

I think these are ’fresh’ dead skin cells. They are harder to remove because they arrive with skin oil on them.

My solution is to rub them away with my finger (since it also has skin oil on it that seems to help loosen the particles) then clear off the smear I just made with a soft cloth.

Sounds gross but works in my experience…
