Hello everyone,

The shop I work at has a TV that we play photos through as a slideshow for customers from a USB stick that repeats, and the boss wants to play a few videos that loop over and over, which the tv/USB combo won't do.
I was thinking we could get an ATV2 (as we us macs in the shop) and play the videos through iTunes, synced to the ATV, but is there a way of playing multiple videos in a row then have them all loop over again?

The alternative is get a cheap DVD player but it won't do HD (only wants to spend $100.00

Cheers.

Have the videos you want to play in a smart playlist in iTunes. When selected and played through the ATV they will play one after the other. I have not tried this part but I assume that if you set the smart list to repeat that it will.

Excellent, that works a treat.
One questions though, with the videos in a playlist, can I start playing the looped playlist from the apple remote, or will I have to go to the computer out back and select playlist in iTunes and stream to the ATV from there?

If you go into the Audio & Video section of the Settings on the Apple TV and select All on the Show Playlists option you will be able to create playlist in Itunes containing Movies or TV Shows and select that playlist using the Apple TV remote.

Ok that does not work at all.
Dont know if im doing something wrong, we got an ATV2 and doesnt matter if its a playlist or smart playlist, it just wont repeat playlist. In fact it wont even automatically continue to play the next movie in the playlist.
It just plays one movie and then when that one finishes,it goes back to the main ATV screen.

Any tips?

The only tip is not to use the Apple TV, sorry it just wont do what you want. A personal pet peeve of mine too.

I have installed XBMC on the Apple Tv and it's possible through that

Well there is one way to do it under the Apple tv and thats to add the videos you want to play under muisc videos

Yeah found a thread on apple support forums showing to change them to music videos, which allows looping, which works a treat!

Probly not the best way to go if you want to watch a tv series back to back (which would be a great thing to be able to do) but the videos we are showing on the show floor are multiple different 2min clips looped over and again so this workaround has worked perfectly for us.

Not sure what you may be doing wrong but I have all of my TV shows setup like this (playlist folder and smart playlist) and these all play one episode after the other. The only part I was not sure about is the repeat part.

Maybe because I have these tagged as tv shows is why it is working for me, I have not tried it with movies.

Yeah in the end it was the repeat part that wasn't playing ball.
Changing them to music vids, worked perfectly.
