In the past few days, my latch on my 17" MBP has become really, really loose. It opens both when I am just carrying it without a case, and even when I'm carrying it and it wakes from sleep and my battery dies. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to send it in to apple?

It's something you'll have to talk to Apple about. You can't really do much to address the issue without cracking the thing open, and that's something you're going to want Apple to do both for technical and warranty reasons.

Me two.

No I really mean me "two" instead of "too". I am currently using my second 17" that has a bad latch. The first would only stay shut for about 3 seconds when flat then pop open.

This second one is quite an improvement. It stays closed when it is flat, but if you pick it up (insert cartoon spring sound) it opens up.

While I was returning the first one the C2D upgrades for the desktops were announced. So I canceled my order thinking the laptops would be announced soon afterwards.

Man did it take a long time for those C2D pros to show up. Then the delayed shipping on top of that and what do I get? Another bad latch.

I call up apple and say I am not going to send this one back until they send me a replacement. No go. They suggest that I buy another one and when that one gets here send the current one I have back.

So that's where I am at. Waiting for 17" number 3 to show up. I am going to have to bump up my blood pressure meds if number 3 has issues.
