I've owned 2 phones, a tablet and a Mac with USB-C ports now and I can't say that I'm overly happy with the quality.
Xperia XZ - loose port
Mac - loose ports
Note 8 - nice tight port
Huawei Mediapad M5 - loose port

What I mean by a loose port is left to right wiggle when ANY compatible cable is inserted, signifying that the port is slightly too large. Appalling tolerances on these dirt cheap components. I'm talking about from new too, not a build up of lint in the port. Some ports also have a more satisfying click than others.

Does anyone else have port OCD?

How much wiggle are we talking about?

My 2016 MBP has very slight wiggle of less than 1/10th of a millimeter or something like that. But it snaps in quite solidly and won't come out until you want it to... My Microsoft Surface Book 2's USB-C port is similar -- solid connection, microscopic wiggle.

Enough wiggle to think it feels 'wrong'. You don't seem to have experienced it from what you describe. My Note 8 has a lovely USB C port. Not too stiff or tight to put in or remove the cable but there is zero wiggle once seated. My Huawei MediaPad has the worst. A lovely satisfying click when the cable is mated to the device but a ton of wiggle, literally over a millimeter of play either side. It's like the port is too big for the cable...any cable.

No I didn't even know any of them could. wiggle. Coincidentally, I had gotten my S9+ off the charger a little while ago and was plugging in my Pixel 2 and thinking how nice and firm USB C connections felt and wondering when iPhones would get them. It's my lightning connectors that always feel a bit fragile to me. The subject has been on my mind ever since I read the new iPads had USB C.
