losing cellular connection often - iOS 9.2

ever since updated to iOS 9.2, I find my cellular connection to be very finicky.

if I'm in an area with spotty service, the phone will "forget" to switch back to LTE once service gets better. it'll stick on "4G" which is usually unusable in LA.

several times a day I have to go into settings and turn Cellular off and on to fix the problem. the phone will immediately find the LTE network and stick to it.

this is only after updating to 9.2.

using an iPhone 6, iOS 9.2, on AT&T

anyone else having a similar experience?

had the phone over a year and this problem is new.

It has been happening to me constantly too since 9.1 on an iPhone 6s+. I have to toggle Airplane Mode all the time to bump "up" from GPRS/2G/3G/4G back up to best available. It seems once the phone goes down a level or two it has a very hard time coming back up. I think my 5s is doing this too, but I'm not sure.

it is NOT the carrier, because it does it whether I have a T-Mobile or AT&T sim in the phone.

i've been avoiding it considering you lose all your stored wi-fi passwords this way which is the ************ING worst.

You could try to pull the SIM out and put it in again.

Does AT&T have a profile that you could download from their website?

Here some providers have one to download for the case that cellular Internet does not work anymore after you put a different SIM in. Sometimes you even get an SMS with a link to it.

Yeah, I get that but resetting network settings on the iphone is like updating the PRL for non smartphones which refreshes all cell towers from my understanding.

Use to have this problem with multiple phones, all on Verizon. It would get worse on some betas, then get better the next. But its on and off across my family's devices...I hate it. WiFi also drops on my current 6S+ like crazy. Could just be bad radios on certain devices. I trade a lot...maybe go a month or so with different iPhones and see this all the time. Verizon wont do anything about it. I've tried multiple SIM cards, blowing the SIM slot out with air...nada...but then some devices don't have the problem at all.

I don't have that problem on iOS 9.2 or 9.2.1 so it is definitely not iOS otherwise there would be literally millions of people complaining. It's more likely that your cellular provider started experiencing issues around the same time iOS 9.2 was distributed.

if that were the case then millions of at&t iphone users in LA would have been speaking out because their phones would be unusuable.

apple's had a year of buggy updates.

Let us know what happens. I do a network reset every once in a while. Then again. I only use 2 Wifi routers (home an work sometimes).
