I just encountered a problem I've never had before.
I was syncing my iPhone and adding a few new ringtones
(I used this technique to create them and it has been
working fine for several syncs before this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAUA1QYOgGY )

When my sync was done, all my music was gone (about 5.5 gigs worth).
The music is still in iTunes and my computer, but nowhere to be
found on the iPhone.

I tried rebooting both the phone and the computer and also unchecking
and rechecking all the music on iTunes. nothing.
the phone syncs normally, but just never adds the music back.
All the music had played just fine for the last several months.

Am I missing some simple thing here? I'm already on my second iPhone
now (the first one went down with battery probs) and I really
hate to think it has to be replaced again.

I searched the forums for anyone with a similar problem but couldn't
find anyone who had suffered a loss of all music like this. Please
if there are any iPhoners with any ideas as to a solution, I'm waiting,
without any music.

Restore your phone, should fix it.

nope it didn't, but thanks for trying.

the problem actually turned out to be a coruption in the iTunes library which required me to create a new folder for the "iTunes Music" and then import all the music from the old one into it (leaving behind the coruption).

I was told this is not a very common problem. Hope this helps anyone else that might suffer this glitch.
