Last week I paid to become an developer for the iPhone as I had been using the free SDK for a while and wanted to try the apps I made on my phone and eventually submit them to the store. I went through the whole process; bought the standard edition, got my code, downloaded all the software, got my iPhone activated. The phone works fine except I cannot get any data while on the AT&T network. When I am home and on my WIFI, I have no problems. I can make phone calls and get SMS messages, but anytime I try to check email or use another app that requires data while away from my network and on the AT&T one, it tells me I have no network connection.

This only started after I installed the 3.0 Beta, build 5 this morning. I'm not sure if I activated something wrong on the phone or if it is an AT&T problem.

Anyone had this happen before? Any suggestions?

My next step will probably be to call AT&T and see if they can ensure my connection is working correctly.

Contact Apple Developer Support. This is a known issue when installing Beta 5 for the first time for some people, and they will tell you how to fix the problem. You should have read the release notes and maybe even gotten an email from Apple about this.

Thanks.

I just reread the release notes and you're right that there was a known issue about this. I am now in contact with Apple and their developer support about this topic so hopefully it gets resolved soon.

i had this same problem...fixed it by using the previous beta build of itunes (necessary to upload a new ipcc carrier file) to upload a ipcc file from an older beta...fixed my 3g and also allows reinstalls tethering and mms missing in beta 5.
