Need some input here. Email notifications were working correctly until last night when I deleted and then re-added my main Email account (I was diagnosing an issue setting the SMTP port). Ever since, I get lock screen notifications as well as banners, but there is no audible / haptic. Everything is set correctly as far as I can tell.... there is a notification sound configured, notifications are enabled for the lock screen in the notification section as well as in the Mail settings. And no, the side mounted "do not disturb" switch is NOT activated ;)

Go to Mail Notifications > Customize Notifications and then open them one by one > Make sure you have a notification sound enabled in all.

Also, go to Sounds & Haptics and make sure Sound and Haptic are both enabled in New Mail section.

PS: Its really odd how Apple adds these settings in multiple different places, they really should simplify the settings.

Sounds and haptics are enabled... always were.

I have four mail accounts. Alerts and sounds are configured for one of them (my primary account). Just badges are configured for the other three since I don't want notifications or audibles from them.

This worked until the other day when I had to delete and then re-add the primary account. I triple checked and all settings are correct.

This morning, I am suddenly getting audibles again for the primary account. I changed nothing. Except I did change the outgoing SMTP port number. See below for back story......

Aside from the fact that I think there is a bug somewhere, IMO "notifications" has gotten too complex for its own good.

Back story.....
This all started yesterday when I got an odd message when I tried sending mail from my primary account. The message said there was an error because the server rejected one of the recipient's addresses. I called my Email provider and while checking the SMTP settings, we discovered that the outgoing port was set to 587 instead of 465. 587 was what the iPhone set when I set up the account and when I changed it to 465, it stalled forever on the "verifying" step. When I killed the process to escape, I discovered that port 465 had stuck and Email worked so I left it that way. This morning I changed it back to 587 (which did complete the "verify" step) and that is when notifications started working again. Coincidence? We never did figure out the reason for the odd error message.
