I have a factory unlocked iPhone, but I wanted to jailbreak. I used blackra1n to jailbreak and installed Cydia and Rock. I also installed many applications, including SBSettings, Winterboard, and others. I was on WiFi at the time, so it wasn't until later that I noticed I could no longer connect to EDGE!

When I turn off WiFi, I don't even have EDGE service and I don't even have the icon anymore. It used to at least show the icon even if I didn't have the APN info correctly entered. I have reset network settings, restarted the phone, tried to use SBSettings to toggle EDGE. No success.

This morning, I used Pwnage tool to create a new custom firmware and upload it, thinking that it would restore any settings that might have been ruined. The reinstall of the firmware didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas on what might have happened here?

hmm.....well can you still make calls and use safari off of wifi?

Funny, I had just hacked my phone so I assumed it was related. It turns out that my local provider is having a network issue and all data is screwed up for the last few days! Odd coincidence.
