I've got a newer Emac running Tiger that has been connected to my Linksys Router for serveral months along with my PC and connected to the internet and working fine. Yesterday I come home woke up the Emac and had no internet connection. Checked the winPC and no connection there either. Assumed the cable service had been down at some point during the day and rebooted the Cable modem. Still nothing. Rebooted the Modem AND the Router and I got my connection back on the PC and my Powerbook but NOT on the Emac. Checked the Network settings and it says there is no IP address assigned to my Ethernet connection. I've rebooted the Emac went through the "assist me" menu and nothing corrects the problem. Nothing has been changed on the Emac except that I "awoke" it and apparently the Router was not working and needed to be restarted. I've checked every setting under "network" and they are identical to my Powerbook except that under tcp/ip it shows NO ip address or subnet at all. I've exchanged the ethernet cable itself with one that I KNOW works from the PC and still nothing. I clicked "renew DHCP Lease" and still nothing. I've even tried a different port on the Router itself and still nothing. I also unhooked the winPC ethernet cable and used THAT one hooked to the Emac on the SAME port and still nothing but it connects fine on the winPC. Searched Apple.com and the only suggestion I found there was to turn off the ethernet port in port configurations and click apply then turn it back on...still nothing.
So...I tried to manually enter my IP address that did not work. Started wondering at this point if the ethernet port was "broke" and decided to enter the exact IP address as my winPC knowing that IF the port was working AND the pc was ON it should not have let me use the same number. The port MUST be working as I get a message on the Emac saying the IP is already in use. I'm out of ideas...anybody else have any suggestions???

By rebooting, did u mean something like pressing a button?
The way i get my internet connection back is by unplugging the power from everything, the router, modem, wait 10 seconds, (MAKE SURE COMPUTER IS OFF TOO), turn computer on and connect everything and hopefully you should have an internet connection, I use comcast and i leave all the auto settings on for me, i never touch manual settings

Yes...I powered off everything. Funny thing is on the third attempt IT WORKED. Only difference this time was I waited 3+ minutes before turning the modem and router back on. Thanx.
