Upgraded to ios5. Lost all my iPad apps. Okay, i can deal with that. However, when i went to iTunes to restore them, it is making me re-purchase them. Anyone else having issues like this?:(

When you attempt to repurchase, a box should pop up saying you already bought it, do you want to reinstall it? Something like that.

Also, make sure you are using the apple id you bought the apps with and not the @me.com account ID. Not saying you did that, but covering the bases.

Thank you! I am using a different apple id. How do you change it back? I could not edit it in settings.

Sadly this doesn't applied to Martha Stewart magazine app. It keeps crashing and eventually, it's gone forever. We tried to reinstall it but the purchased are gone.

In the new iTunes go to:

Purchases > Apps > lower right where it says "download all apps"

Just make sure you're signed in w/ the iTunes acct you purchased with.

so by reading this doing the update makes you re download the apps?

does this apply to the phone as well? I really dont want to have to to re download all apps then place in folders again.

Thanks that did it. Just finished updating my iphone Unfortunately I lost close to 8000 photos :(((((((((((( Good news is that the best ones are online (http://traceyhaun.posterous.com/ ). I'm shocked that Apple allowed this to happen.

The installer pretty plainly states it wipes all media from your device...on the iPT, it did not wipe any photos i actually took with it.

Those that don't back up lose their data.

not as long as you back up FIRST and make you do a File/Transfer Purchases from iPod/iPhone.
