I live in South Korea teaching English. I'm from Canada, and brought my iPhone 3G here hoping that I would be able to use it here. That was about a year and a half ago.

The other night, I left my iPhone in a cab. I thought I'd never see it again, and figured I'd get an iPod touch to hold me over until I returned to Canada. Life goes on.

I got a call from my friend today. She said she was in Seoul and had something to tell me, and she wanted to see me in person. I have the hots for her really bad, so of course I was exactly where she wanted me to be, when she wanted me to be.

We sat down for some coffee, and I asked her what it was she had to tell me. I always get nervous when I hear that. She told me it wasn't something she had to tell me, but something she had to give me.

Now, she lives about 5 hours away by bus. I figured she had a present or something for me. I never once thought she had my iPhone.

She pulls it out of her purse. I have never had my jaw drop like that before. It was like I was in a dream. It's the first time I really questioned whether or not something was happening.

The cab driver found my iPhone, went through my contacts, and called my Korean friends. Luckily I stored their names in there in 한국어. She came by bus, for 5 hours to Seoul last night, stayed with a school friend, arranged to meet with the cab driver this morning, called me to meet up, and gave me the phone.

I was beside myself. I almost cried. I had started to pawn off my stuff to buy the iPod touch (which is about $100 more expensive here than in Canada).

I have renewed faith in humanity. I can't think of anyone else who would do something so thoughtful for me. She spent 2 days of her time to get my phone back to me. The world isn't such a bad place after all.

Glad you got your phone back dude :). You should totally hook up with her too:p

I would give my right testicle to have her, but our circumstances are kind of incompatible. She's studying 24/7 to be a cop, and I'm leaving Korea in 4 months. She was a student of mine in Canada. Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine as hell.

This is a picture of us back in 2007, when I met her. Maybe she's not your cup of tea, but I've been crazy about her for the past 2 years... but life has its way of getting in the way of what we want most.

Anyway, today she proved to me that I really do have a true friend here, no matter how alone I feel sometimes.

Every single time I post a picture of myself on MR, I get the same response, and usually from gay guys. One of my biggest fans I'd say is leekohler. He's a cool dude though.

Yes ur definately a cutie. I didn't even know there were other openly gay guys on here.

Oh and yes she may be a genuinely sweet friend and all, but any girl willing to do that for a guy, is subliminally offering her vaginal goods

I work in a jail so I get to see the bad side of society, so it's good to hear stories such as this.

As far as Asian's go :D I love em. It was a good thing I did my over seas tour in Germany because if I would of been sent to Korea or Japan it would of been the death of me.
Congrats on getting you i back... Tell the girl how you feel, you never know when/how your paths may cross again.

That's a great story. Glad you were able to get the phone back. Good friends make it all worth while.

You also owe the cab driver a big one. Doesn't make much money but really went the extra mile and even went out of his way to meet your friend.

That's a wild story. Lots of good samaritans in one place.

I also have some positive international cabbie stories.

Thank you for the story, we hear so much trash and bitching here that when something good happens it great to hear. Stay there and get the girl.

If she went to all that trouble, trust me, you're in!
But as others have said... if you have some way of contacting the cab driver I think you should shower praise upon him.
I've had a similar thing happen, leaving my phone (a few years ago - not an iphone, but still) on a bus, along with my wallet, and both were handed in and I got them back. Including the $80 cash that was in the wallet.

There are some really kind people out there!

It's really nice to hear a positive story on here for once. I'm just wondering if you ever told this girl you like her? If not, do so. And screw the circumstances. Some things you only get one chance at in life.

I would congratulate you on getting your phone back, but seriously, congratulations for knowing some great people. She's definitely a rare case. Thanks for sharing the story, it's nice to hear good news about these situations sometimes. And, okay, congrats on getting your phone back.

Are you kidding? She's beautiful - and regarding the circumstances - it's hard but if you really want it you can do it. My girlfriend was in Cali and I was in India - apart for 3 years - and no skype back then  We're now happily married since the last 6 years - go for it!

Ah.. a truly beautiful story.. Congrats! :) It's harder to find such honest people nowadays..

Wow what a cab driver and also I reckon she's got the hots for you too mate with her going to the trouble to get your phone to you. Man if she willing to take two days out of her life to do that she would be a great catch!
