Lost my jailbreak yesterday.

I know you used to be able to change appstore icons back on iOS 5, with iFunbox and the like, but I cannot seem to get it to work on my iPhone 5 running 6.1.3.

Any suggestions?

Just use iFunBox and replace the respective icon@2x.png file. You might want to rename the original file or back it up

As I mentioned in my OP, this unfortunately does not work any longer

It does work. The file name is case sensitive! In addition to that, some apps don't use icon@2x.png, some might use icon@2x~iphone.png or something. And reboot after you put the file

did you reboot?

Yes I did reboot. I even changed the system language, as I heard that clears some caches, and that didn't help either.

No man, it doesn't.

You cannot rename the original icon and you cannot add the new one to the folder, by drag/drop or "add from computer". At least not on an iPhone 5 running 6.1.3.

You have the same device/firmware that I do?

Like I said, it used to work on my iPhone 4 back on iOS 5.

Now...not so much.

so you're saying you can ONLY export files from the app folder using ifunbox? I was not aware that you couldn't import files into the app folder using ifunbox if you're not jailbroken

Correct.

You used to be able to import/export freely with iFunbox, even if you weren't jailbroken.

If I could just change a few of the icons I've become accustomed to looking at it would make me feel a little better about not being jailbroken :(

Not much you can do to alter non-jailbroken software.

Yeah I get that. But I figured since I could do this before, hopefully there was a way to do it now...

If they changed the OS to restrict importing files, it seems your out of luck. Jailbreaking is not as bad as it seems. Just use it up to what you need it to; you don't have to go fancy just because you jailbroke.

My guess is they changed so people couldn't cheat by loading "hacked" game files that interfered with in app purchases. That might have been one of the reasons

Looks like unjailbroken people can't even import game save data without restoring from a backup now. That's a shame :/

I am not afraid of jailbreaking. I had an issue and had to restore to 6.1.3 :(

I wouldn't be so sure. I was able to import a Temple Run 2 save on to my iPhone 5. Granted, I was not using 6.1.3 at the time. But it's definitely not just an iPhone 5 issue.

OP - Have you tried using a program other than iFunbox? I had issues with both that and iFile when trying to manually theme some stuff on my jailbroken i5, so it could just be an issue with iFunbox and the iPhone 5 (whether on a jailbroken firmware or not).

I would recommend Disk Aid 6. It's a great tool that you can try for free. Let me know if it works (or if you've already tried it)!
