Hello!

I have inadvertantly deleted my itunes library.itl and itunes music library.xml files!!!

i have all the music, but none of their information tags!!!!
(these are important to me!)

can i retrieve them? it's on my windows machine, and system restore does not seem to work. can i get the files off of my ipod?

thanks,
r.

I think the info tags are stored within the music files themselves, aren't they? (At least for MP3 ID3 tags...) Did you already try importing a few to see if you actually have what you think you're missing?

so there is no way to restore the "my rating" field and the "date added" field to my itunes library?

really really really wanna....

Download an illegal torrent copy of Leopard, fire up Time Machine, make a backup, then go back in time to fix your mistake.

Barring that, you're screwed if you don't have a backup.

I was gonna say I wonder if Time Machine covers this. Im sure it does.

You could use an un-delete program like Free Undelete. I used it one time when I accidentally deleted all my bands in iTunes from T - Z and it got them back for me. It should work with the library files too. :)
