Lost Macbook software & need to rebuild. What to do?

Argh!
My wife has a White Macbook Core Duo that desperately needs to be rebuilt. I went to reload OSX and low and behold, I cannot find her restore discs. I popped in a disc labeled "Macbook Mac OS X Install Disc 1" with OS version 10.4.6, AHT version 3A104, and Disc version 1.0

I thought this was for her machine since it says, "Macbook" not "Macbook Pro". But her machine kicks it out on boot and even kicks it out while in OS X. It is like it doesn't want to read the disc at all. My Pro reads it fine though.

Think this is a optical drive problem or is the machine smart enough to know this is the incorrect disc? FWIW, I was able to burn a DVD backup of her machine and subsequently read it on her machine, so I am thinking the drive is OK... hum...

* If this IS the correct disc and this IS an optical drive problem, than that means I cannot find my Macbook Pro (17" 2.33 Core 2 Duo) disc and I need to get a replacement for IT instead...! Help!

Would it matter if it is a Duo and not a Duo 2? Otherwise that would be fantastic! Maybe you could PM me.
But Peace says no go... So, is that illegal or something? Probably...

I suppose calling Apple is in order. I was hoping I could interchange my Macbook and Macbook Pro software discs. So, I guess my question than really is, should that disc have been kicked out of the Macbook like that? Are they model specific?

Why?

Why wouldnt that be good? We both have legit purchased units and authorized to use the same OS. These disks cant be installed in anything but a macbook anyway.

I'm new to this forum, so I may be mistaken, but I believe that discussing software piracy and/or illegal distribution is frowned upon. That said, I advise for you to call Apple and have them send you a replacement. I just ordered replacement discs for my girlfriend's Mini and it cost $32. Not too bad, eh?

The disks for the Macbook say Macbook, and the disks for the MBP say Macbook Pro. You can confirm it's not the disk for your MBP by clicking on the "Install bundled applications" on the disk, from OS X, which should give you an alert that they won't work on that machine.

Do you have an external drive you could try the disk with on the macbook? I'm not sure if you can install that way or not.

Sounds like you have two reasons to contact Apple. :/
