I thought I had fully synced before upgrading as the pop up reminders make it clear data will be lost if not performed. I even transfered all of my apps to itunes but obviously did not check thoroughly enough in outlook to confirm my contacts were synced. AFter completion of the upgrade, all of my contacts are missing from my iphone and there are none in my outlook file either. I just upgraded to a new PC so most are on my other laptop but is there a way to recover the contacts wiped from my iphone while I still have the option to 'restore' in itunes?

Any insight from those who would know?

This happened to me as well when I upgraded and I did "restore from backup." I was so mad because I was sure I synced it to outlook but when I looked it was not there. I just clicked on sync in iTunes and to my amazement all my contacts and texts came back.

Also, check that they may be stored in your iCloud. I had that happen to a coworker and we were able to get them back.

Here's what I did to fix it (upgraded my 3gs from 4.2.1 jb to 5.0 and had the same result, no contacts).
I opened up the text message folder/app, typed in a name I knew existed, it searched for it and found it even though phone showed no contacts prior. Then I deleted the text, went back to my conctacts and they were all back where they belong.
Hope this helps
Brad
