Unfortunately not as you have to enable find my phone on the iphone itself

Nope - that is what phone insurance (if you take it out) is designed to cover

I suggest speak to o2 and see what they suggest. If you can remember where you lost it, try and go back to see if anyone handed it in. You might be lucky and try and call the phone if someone has found it and is honest. Hope you get it back.

cheers.

home insurance, sounds complicated.

tried calling the three clubs/restaurants, nobody has handed it in.

o2 just said they can bar it, which stops anyone reading my mails/texts/ and making or receiving calls. .. and then they would send me a new sim card, using the same number.

yeah ill un-bar it tmrw and try calling it and texting it for a few days at least.

Do you live with your parents by any chance? Ask them if you can claim the phone purchase off of their home insurance, maybe they can deal with it for you depending on the cover.

yes
"haven't insured items away from home"

someone told me i could buy a new iphone from apple for £150 as replacement.

i asked apple, apple said no.

can anyone confirm?

cant remember but the friend said theyre iphone got broken or lost or stolen, and they were allowd to get a new one for £150.

I think the £150 is for a broken/damaged unit. if they sold replacements for lost iPhones for £150 every one would loose one.

what if i say it got broken by some lunatic or whatever, and so i then threw it away or something. or would they want to look at it and confiscate the phone???

You would be sentenced to a flaming by the more self-righteous members here. You would also be committing fraud, and that's the real reason why you need to take responsibility for what's happened.

However, as I see it, your options are:

1. Buy a new PAYG phone from the Apple store.
2. Buy a secondhand phone from eBay (cheaper than 1.)

...and put your replacement SIM into it.

Once your contract is up, you can sell the phone on, take out a new contract and get a new iPhone then, so you'll get some of your money back.

Then, if miraculously you do get your phone back, you can sell it.

good help guys. cheers.

yeah its sinking in now. got my new sim from o2.
just gonna wait a few days in case they pick up and wanna return it.

I have an old sony erik. phone. will use that for now.

have not decided if i want an iphone again.
i hardly used it. Only for texts and minimal calls.
hell, it didnt even have a flash camera. and without jailbreaking, it sucked.

might eventually get an old iphone model, one that jailbreaking is nice on, and that is fairly cheap. Dont wanna get locked into a long contract, 12months at max.

it feels kinda good to not have a phone. one less thing to have on your mind.
reminds me of the good old days. :)
