and i thought it would never happen again....
well, i bought a new macbookpro because my old G5 died...and the 1st thing i did was plug my iphone in thinking that it wd sync with the notebook and transfer all the infos and we would live happily ever after. Yeah right..
ok, my note book started by informing me that a new software was available so i installed it. i then synched everything ticking some boxes along the way and next thing i know is that when i tried ti use my iphone to make a call, i realised that i still had all my contacts names and e mails in the contact list but no phone number. what happened to them????
god its hard to be ridiculously good looking but stupid.
can someone help me become clever without impairing my natural good looks?
thank you.

Did it ask you to backup. If it did click restore and load your phone from the backup. If not then without your original mac your screwed.

problem is that my old mac is not responding

hello, and thanx 4 answering my sos. still have the old mac but i cant start it. the screen or maybe the video card died a few days ago. when i power it i get the start up sound then i hear things moving and blowing but the screen remains black. i was hoping i could target start the old g5 on the new macbook so i firwired both toys and even pluggd a keyboard on the g5 (the g5 keybord being wireless, i cld b sure it wd pair again without having the on screen infos), but when i start up the g5 whilst holding the t key, nothing happens, so im afraid its actualy the hard drive that decided to part with me after a 5 years delightfull relationship...as u see, my problem doesnt stop with my iphone contacts, but with all the datas which are still burried somewhere in my old g5.....

If you synced, then your contacts in Address Book should have everything. Look at that and see if the numbers are there. If not, then you've probably lost them for good.

What you can take away from this is to always have a backup of your iTunes. I'd suggest buying a cheap backup external USB hard drive.

back up, yes i know about back ups, and i always say ill do it tomorrow...
i will be 40 years ol in january, and i promise i will become a sensible man by then...
in the meantime, i guess i'll have to sort out the old g5 issue. i have tried target mode with no success, so i am gonna try to find a vga to whatever adapter so see if it starts up on my tv a a monitor, i hope it will work.
i am open to any suggestion as to how to get back into the hard drive..
