lost picture from tv display mac mini 2005

i picked up a mac mini to do basic stuff. plugged it into my 32" tv and it popped right up and worked perfectly, except, the picture didnt fit perfectly. so i went to change the picture so that everything fit inside the tv screen. when i changed it went to black. i plugged it into my 47" tv to see if i could fix it from there and plug it back into the 32" but nothing i have tried works. how can i make it work with the 32" again.
