I am heartbroken with lost pictures from thumb drive but I checked to see if there are any pictures from my TM and found a lot of them but lost some. Also I check to see if Aperture save any pictures but I found out Aperture did not save them only leave it on thumb drive I requested it to save SSD space. I guess I don't trust thumb drive for storing pictures... I have to order 4th external portable drive again. I have three external drives one wireless drive for iTunes library, one for TM, and last one for video editing.
I am afraid of storing valuable pictures to external drive in case of messed up. :apple:

If you are running Aperture in managed library mode, you can do an Aperture library backup using the Vault utility. Naturally that should not be using the same target drive as library sits on. Wen i ran Aperture the library was on the internal SSD. The Vault backup plus all documents, moves...etcl all were on the external library drive that is 6TB.

You can easily purchase drives that are 3 to 6TB. So no need for lots of small drives. Use fewer larger drives....and always have backups.

Thank you and yes I found some good price for 3TB bare drives. I will order it next month. :apple:

You shouldn't trust any single location. ANY storage technology can fail, some inevitably will whatever you do. Having a proper backup is the only way.

Fully Agreed! Make sure to do Aperture Vault backups or Lightroom Catalog backed. And then backup the entire file system with Time Machine or CCC. And if you are really trying to play safe, have an off site backup via the cloud or portable drives.
