I work at an apple reseller (which is not our main product) , and a customer returned an ibook. She failed to tell us the startup password, and now we cant get a hold of her.

I just need to reformat... does anybody know how i can get around the pasword in order to load the install disc.

Unfortunately, I am the only guy here that knows the slightest about macs and I have never run into this problem before... PLEASE HELP :D

As I assume individual macs cannot identify the specific CD's from which they were booted and had the OS installed from originally just grab hold of an install disk (for whichever OS is installed) start up from that and reset the password to something you can remember or just don't use one full stop. You can then do what you need to do. Just tell her that you've changed it or it isn't set up with one when she returns, she can always reset it the same way.
