I know the pencil nibs are eventually going to be made available. Someone lost their little charging adapter and started a thread on it a number of weeks ago. At that time they said Apple staff didn't know what it was or couldn't find a part number for it. I could see the same being true for the cap portion at least for a while. It would be nice to be able to replace them if lost or damaged. I'd suggest posting something at Apple's support feedback.

Well they must have spares as it is a legal requirement where I live unless otherwise stated.

I lost the cap of the pencil. Is there any recommended 3-party caps to replace?

Thank you.

I also lost my cap and called Apple regarding a replacement. They wanted 23€ ($27) + shipping for one replacement cap so I politely declined.

is this real? how can they really charge $27 for a cap- when the pen sells for $100
$10 would be the most i would pay

I know the cap isn't just a plain hollow plastic dome but shaped inside to protect the Lightning connector component and there's a magnet too inside it seems, but $27 does seem a bit much. I suppose the Pencil isn't manufactured in great enough quantity right now either to have extra production runs for inventory of parts.

With the connector so exposed without it though it's definitely something you would want to keep protected when not in charging mode. Glad I bought Cozy's PencilCozy tethered device so at least I don't loose mine. Apparently well worth the few dollars it cost for the Cozy if that's the replacement cost of the cap!

Bought the PencilCozy along with the Pencil lightning adapter (another easily misplaced or lost piece) for $9.99 for the combo pack. You can buy it separately for 7.99 (or maybe less on Amazon) but for an extra $2, the direct from the manufacturer combo seemed like the best deal. Cheap first class shipping in padded envelope too which was appreciated and keeps cost down.

Your post will make alot of people happy. Now $5 is very reasonable for the tiny lightning adapters. Love (not) that shipping is more than the cost of an adapter. If Cozy can ship the PencilCozy Combo for .99 first class postage, it would be nice if Apple could too. I hate elevating the cost of shipping especially for something small like this that could go first class.

I still think the PencilCozy combo is a good nominal investment if you have the Pencil. Pretty much same cost as buying a replacement from Apple, but you know you won't end up losing the cap/adapter and having to wait for a replacement and you'll never lose it to begin with. People who travel with it are probabbly more at risk of loss. The adapter I don't see as a big deal but the cap really is important at protecting the connector.

To me it makes more sense to have the cap handily attached to the Pencil since it's only a quick on-and-off type thing anyway when you charge. Apart from the remote storage location of the cap on the esty one on a charging cable, I'd wonder about it eventually coming out of the strap in that combo holder. If it pops out or the banding expands and gets loose, it wouldn't be attached to anything. Kind of the point of having a tethered device to begin with IMO. You are going to want to put the cap back on the Pencil after charging so you'll be putting it in the adapter and pulling it off all the time. Just see problem-creep as time goes on and back to looking for another solution.

And doubt you want your lightning adapter held onto to your Pencil cap when it's on your Pencil. That would make it top heavy and bulky and ugly.

Via AppleCare the cost for ONE replacement pencil cap (not charger adapter) (they won't sell you more than one at a time) is $9.95 plus shipping & handling. At the time of this post, that total cost is.... $18.09 that's 9.95 for the cap, $6.95 for shipping and $1.19 for tax. Just damn.

I ordered on of these after seeing your post the other day.

It arrived this morning, but guess what happened yesterday?

Yep, that's right, I lost the Pencil cap. :D

[Edit]I'm on hold with Apple Support in Ireland now.

I'm the 1st person who's rung requesting a new cap, so the chap is working a little blind, but is definitely trying his best for me.

[Edit 2] - Just off the phone with him.

He was really good, he kept going away and coming back and going away again to do more digging, then eventually we had to look at the serial number on the pencil and he then found the cap as a part number.

The best part of all is that he thanked me for my patience and for holding on and said that he will send me a new cap free of charge. :)

Guess what just turned up??

That's right, my free Apple pencil replacement cap!

Wow, another reason why I use Apple products.

What I find most interesting in this thread, are the vast differences in experiences between different consumers. Apple usually does not have such disparity among customers.

How was it packaged? Just loose in an envelope or do they have special packaging like with Apple Watch service replacements? :)

I think you get out what you put in. ;)

I have been using this cap for a few month. I bought a white one. it turns out that it becomes a bit yellow within less than a month.

I found another solution. Thank you The African. I chat with Apple Support telling them that I lost my cap. They are sending me one for 15 pounds. WTF.

I just spent 1 hour on the apple care line trying to get a replacement for the Apple Pencil USB cap. They told me they do not have replacements and I would have to purchase a new pencil. If I had been told this 4 months ago when I bought the IPad Pro and Pencil I would have said NO THANK YOU and walked away. The pencil works great with the IPad Pro but keeping track of the bits and pieces is troublesome. I am surprised I have kept it this long. This is a great machine in a bad package. I am going to try my Apple Store next to see if they can help.

So, I ran into this problem today.
The best way to get around this, call your local apple store, and when the prompt asks you what you're calling for, ask for a manager, that will lead to the store.
Then, ask if they have any Apple Pencil caps in stock. But you have to make an appointment with the Genius Bar to get one. The price was around $10

I was finally able to I grt one from apple care shipped it was about $18. The hard part for the applecare associate was finding the part number. I still have the replacement.
