I recently bought an Ipad 2 at an estate sale but the sellers had no idea of the username or password as the owner was deceased. Is it pracrical to try to get it working again?

Locked out of your iPad and forgot your iPad passcode? Use a computer to get your iPad into recovery mode so you can erase it and set it up again.
Apple will not unlock it for you. The sellers would have to go to Apple with the deceased owner’s will proving that it was left to them, and provide proof that the deceased person is the one who purchased it with the original receipt showing that person’s name and matching serial number of the iPad. Without all of that, you have a paperweight.
