Over the last several months I've had to reset my Apple ID password several times because Apple has locked my account for some undisclosed reason. Yea I've got 2 factor turns on and have never received any indication from that system that someone is trying to login. Anyone having this issue too and anyone got any clue about what's going on. I'm wondering if someone is trying to hack my account or ApplePay info or if there's just some issue with Apple IDs that causes this to come up from time to time.

I'm not sure if it's related but FaceTime seams to go haywire and wants to reenable WiFi Calling on my MacBook around the time I get these locked account issues but that's not always the case.

The exact same thing happened to me last year. I called Apple in a panic and they confirmed the following:

If people attempt to access your account multiple times with your email address, but incorrect passwords, it will automatically lock. This doesn't mean they know the password, it just means they keep trying incorrect passwords with your email address.

If they do get the correct password, it will then prompt for 2FA. That's why you didn't get any prompts to enter any codes because they didn't have the correct passwords. Instead it just locked your account to, I imagine, prevent brute-force password attempts.

It's a pain in the butt, though better than the alternative. I guess you could try to change the email address against your Apple ID and then they'll no longer have that either.

Yea. I should know that. Frustrating day. Thanks for the confirmation.
