So I've heard that the Camera Connection Kits are scarce, but I thought I'd give my local Apple Store in Oakbrook a try. I called, but their super annoying phone system wasn't working AGAIN. (When I hit 5, it kept saying "goodbye.") Anyways, it was crowded as usual. so I asked someone in the front of the store if they had any in stock, and he pulled me aside and said they didnt, and that they've only gotten shipments once or twice and they were gone within 24 hours. So I went to look around, and near the back I saw ~50 Camera Connection Kits on the shelf. I was very confused, but bought one. Anyways I guess the point of this thread is to state my confusion and tell anyone in the Western Suburbs of Chicago that wants a CCK to go to Oakbrook.

BestBuys are starting to get them in stock as well, picked up two this morning.

I also checked bestbuy.com's inventory locator and between this morning and now, 3 more locations were added to the original as having the kit in stock.

Lucky. I went to Best Buy 3 hours ago and they didn't have anything. Nor does the Apple Store here (MB, Canada.)

Canada left in the dark once again. I ordered it online early July. Ships August 17th. :(

This just allows you to connect a camera or a memory card, right? J/w.

Yes, along with a few other random items such as USB keyboards or USB headsets. I have tried a few other things such as a small midi controller (Korg MicroKey) and the lights came on but there is no app that uses the controller for input so it was not very useful.

It has a bit more functionality if you're jailbroken.

The Apple store here in Sydney never had them and still doesn't. I ended up caving and buying it online and I got mine in about a week even though the website said 3 - 4.

Thanks for the prompt replies. :)

Hey OP or somebody who doesn't want theirs anymore or something, can I buy one from you? I'll pay 10 dollars extra. :p

mixvio - the Sydney Apple store had millions of them on release day. They didn't even sell that fast at first, however, when I wanted one and went back (a few weeks later) they were all gone. One of the nerds told me that they periodically get more in but they never know when, just put them in the stands and they sell out that day.

+ the cost of shipping and tracking and signature from USPS?

Give me a quote and we'll talk. It's like, what, 30 dollars for the kit? 35? + my 10 dollars + shipping and tracking (to Winnipeg, MB, Canada.) - like 60 total?

I actually caved and ordered one for $60 from one of the resellers on Amazon. Nice thing is that it came in two days for free (because of Prime).

In my case I had no other choice as i had an upcoming trip to Australia (sitting in Sydney typing this right now!).

Just thought I would let people know that that option does work.

ffuuuu

I can do that too, but I know that this time next month, I'll be looking back going, "damn it, why didn't I wait 30 more days? I spent 20 more dollars to feed my impatience!"

Same happened with my iPad. Ended up getting a 16GB instead of a 32GB because a 16GB is all they had left and I wasn't going to go home empty-handed. I was lucky enough as it is to get this one.

Oh I totally understand! That's the same way I ended up with a 64GB iPad 3G! I had originally planned on 32.....

You don't fully understand; you got something better than what you originally wanted, whereas I got something worse. That makes all the difference in the world. But I guess if you didn't even use 32GB yet and can't think of more stuff to possibly add, it feels like wasted money. Still, I'd rather have the peace of mind of seemingly too-large storage. Until then, I'm stuck using software like AirVideo and PlugPlayer.

Just sold mine, was a pain if I used a micro sd, it shows not connected to USB device, or or other errors, so will get another on later. Maybe.

Odd, I thought micro sd worked with USB/SD adapters.

Yeah, but when I bought mine at launch I initially didn't expect I would care about keeping it. I thought it would just be a fad. :p

So I didn't think about getting any accessories other than the case. When I went back two days later, they were out and still don't have any. They're out of all accessories all around here, I had to go to the Bondi store to get a case and mine was the last one they had in stock.

Wierd, I got a camera kit two weeks ago but I did buy it together with my iPad over at the Canadian Apple store website. Closest Apple Store for me is in Montreal, which is five hours away by car.
