Wow, never have seen so many refurbs, especially Minis, looks like something is up soon. Next Tuesday?

Why would they be loading up refurbs now? Do they use that to clear out new stock as well? Because until there are new products announced the current iMac and Mini are "new", so there's no reason to sell them at a discount as refurbs.

With that logic, the 400MHz G4 Cube is "new" because it has not yet seen an update.

Trust me. Sub 2GHz C2D with GMA 950 graphics, no Santa Rosa, and an 80GB HDD... That's not new. That's very old technology. That's why so many people are anxious.

Even saw a Core Solo on there this morning! Talk about ancient history. and they really should put more thought into the pricing rather than just taking a fixed % off the original retail. The CS looks stupid next to a cheaper, better spec'd 1.83GHz CD.

Yeah, the Mini is pretty pathetic, and the refurb $999 iMac makes it seem that much worse.

For $200 more compared to the SuperDrive mini:
- 20" screen (A 20" screen alone is $200!)
- Webcam and microphone
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Santa Rosa (Crestline) chipset
- Dedicated graphics card
- Also, bigger and faster hard drive [EDIT]

I know, that $999 iMac is pretty enticing, much better deal than the 2ghz mini.

Whoa, almost all the refurbs minis are gone now, and this is a 'dying' segment?

1) It's also not in the refurb store. Point being that they wouldn't dump "obsolete" products into the refurb store before they've become obsolete through an upgraded spec.

2) Didn't say the current products couldn't use an update. Only question was whether one could draw an inference about timing because of increased refurbs.

if they were trying to empty the channels, wouldn't they be using the clearance section of the refurbed store?

besides, apple is more nutso about operation security than the kremlin or the third reich. i couldn't see them tipping their hand like that anyway...
