I just purchased the new 2017 ipad from best buy and have a basic question...the home button is extremely loud when you press it. The click is very noticeable. Is this normal for this model or should I take it back?
I don't think its normal, I've used the new 2017 iPad and I've found it to be the same as all the previous iPad models. Maybe you should head back to the store and test out their demo units?
If it functions fine, it's fine. If you're worried about it, take it to Apple, though they'll probably say that it's within spec. My advice would be to simply enjoy your new device.

The home button naturally will have an audible tone. My iPhone SE had a louder click as well and my iPad is also audible. As long as its performing normally without any other defects, I wouldn't worry about it. Even so, if your concern becomes worse, you have 14 days with Best Buy.
Good decision. And a nice upgrade at that. I think the newer Pro's are just all around better in every way and the 120 Promotion display is a nice as Advantage.
