Loud vibrate??

Was just wondering if you guys thought that taking a phone back because of the vibrate being loud would be a good reason or if I should just deal with it...

My 3g 16gb white iphone's vibrate is comparable to the moto razr's vibrate, and that was pretty loud imo. I compared it to my friends 3g iphone and his is definitely quieter, it also kinda sounds like my case is rattling a bit. My phone also has the light leak and keyboard lag even after 2.0.1, other than that there is nothing wrong... no cracks etc.

So do you guys think I should take it back?? I got it on the 11th, so I am outside of the return/exchange period. If I do take it back and they do exchange it will they give me a new phone or a refurb or something??

Isn't it good that the vibrate is strong or does it feel like something is loose?

I can think of School, when you want it on vibrate, and if it vibrates too loud, everyone and their grandma knows

totally agree with above post... The iphone casing itself feels pretty solid, but it does sound like the motor or something inside is loose/misaligned

I had this exact problem!

I noticed it was really really loud and completely defeated the purpose of having it on silent, the vibrate was louder than my ring was. But I didn't know for sure if it was working correctly until I took it to the store to compare it to their display model.

So apple sent me a new phone and the vibrate was wonderful, but after a few days it was back to how my old phone was. So now I'm debating what to do about my second broken iPhone...

I don't really care if I can have Spore and a flight simulator and all kinds of fancy things on my phone, if the vibrate mode is way too loud for any quiet situation.

When someone calls me and I'm in class, I find the entire class staring at me while I fumble around for the sleep/wake button. I get looks like I must have the ********* phone from ten years ago.

I would like to know what the person above did with their second phone. I too had a very loud vibrate about a month after I got it, and then just over a week ago they sent me a new one, the vibrate was beautiful, but now, today I have started to hear it once again get louder.

Should I get another one?

Great Question! Answer is who knows.
I am on my 4th white iPhone.
First one bad build, casing wasn't flush, dead pixel + dust.
Second iPhone - Dust under screen!
Third - lock/unlock jammed in casing + Horrible flush casing.
Forth - Everything seems great except the vibrate. It is much louder than ever.
I, too don't know whether if I should take the risk and keep swapping it out. It is my 5th day with the iPhone and I have 9 more days (14 days) until I receive a better built model.
When I bought my iPhone 2G first day it came out, it was simply FLAWLESS!
It's quite aggravating having to deal with the issues of having it swapped out and just maybe receiving a not well built model. I guess this is what happens when Apple gets too big and doesn't have great Quality Control on their products.

Let me know your results.

My phone's vibrate doesn't sound the same as when I first got it. It sounds loose, and not as firm as it use to be. It's louder and sounds like its coming from a cheap phone. I understand a few of you are having the same problem. Did Apple ever replace your phone with this problem?

I took mine to the store and got a replacement. I was kind of surprised because the phone technically still worked. I told the guy my phone was vibrating louder and sounded like it was loose. The guy was like "This is kind of nit-pick thing, but what the hell, I will just replace it." He didn't even check for water damage or anything (Although I have been checked before). They don't even look to see if you have the iPhone data plan. They just take your sim card out and put it in a new phone and if it's an ATT sim card it activates it's self. They are pretty slack.
