So rare I use Photoshop now, but when I want to edit something, it's what I know how to use and can quickly open it up and do what I like. Problem is, that's once a month, some months never, some months a few times.

What would you do in my situation. Works out around £20 for an edit!

Really not a fan of this monthly thing.

Also really don't want to relearn some new software either.

I wouldn't back yourself into a corner by saying you don't want to learn new software. I think that's your only option really. There are apps like Pixelmator Pro that have a much less steep learning curve than Photoshop.

All the Affinity apps are great and very affordable! I've been onboard since they launched. Affinity Photo and Designer were released years ago and I've not yet had to pay for any upgrades, they have all been free. Really great company IMO and their forums are really good too, some very helpful people on there. Fully recommended.

They also have sales a couple of times a year, so if you're patient you will be able to pick AP up at a discount, they haven't had one in a while so there may be one due sometime soon. That said, I wouldn't begrudge paying the full price if you are looking to move to new software asap. Worth the full asking price without doubt.

I got Affinity Photo and Designer both at half price (regular offers as mentioned above).
I was in the same boat, couldn’t give a rats ### about any subscription software.
I used my PS maybe 6 times a year.

Photo replaced my perpetual license of PS5 (have literally just uninstalled it, having not used it for ever and past couple of versions of MacOS need an old legacy runtime to make it run).

For basic use the interface is completely familiar, same layers, tools etc.

Edit: it’s also available on the App Store.

Being a former Photoshop User, I haven't used it for years. I now use Pixelmater pro, which does 99.9% of all the features that i used in photoshop. In some instances, some of its tools work better than photoshops. (As of version 5.5, the last version i used. lol)

Affinity Photo. Inexpensive, not too steep a curve if you’ve been a Photoshop user, not rental software, tons of online support and instructional videos.
Used Photoshop for 23 years. Couldn’t get away fast enough. Never going back.
I use all three Affinity applications - Photo, Designer, and Publisher on my desktop. I use Photo and Designer on my iPads.
