Well, after adding one 27" monitor, I finally got around to adding a second. Merry X-Mas to me!

The LCD's flank the iMac left and right and I've angled them. No more juggling apps. The only downside is I think with more apps. open I may need more RAM!

I feel like Darth Vader in his command pod ;) If I spin the Dell LCDs to portrait I'll have an Tie Fighter;)

I got a kick out of this. While I have went the other way and cut monitors out of my workstation i really appreciate the Tie Fighter look!

Now install MonitorControl to control the brightness on all three using the keyboard brightness keys. I just made a video tutorial on it if interested!

I’ve been using a Dell monitor with my iMac and after installing the app to try it out I’m never going without it!

Found the video. Any thanks!!! That is what I love about these threads! Reminds me of the old fashioned, in person User Groups of yore.

OP here. I'm toying with the idea of using a Dell Dual Monitor stand for the two Dell 27" LCDs. It is Winter and I'm board O.K. ;)

If I did this I would make the two Dell LCD sit directly in front of me turned in portrait mode. The iMac would then sit at and angle on the left. Of course the Dell LCD's would then sit way taller in portrait mode. I just wish my desk was deeper as I like to sit further back from that dual LCD portrait mode set-up.

I guess the advantage would be a little less scrolling, and maybe just a little less head swiveling. Downside is that I think the Late 2015 iMac's screen is a little nicer than the Dell LCD's picture quality wise.

With the three screens, the Dell left and right of the iMac I usually have two Safari windows open on the iMac. Apple music on the left screen, and iMessage and mail on the left screen.

Anyone out there use LCD's monitors in portrait mode? Do you like it vs. landscape?

Wow, looks like we’re on the same brain wave! “Ditto” to all of the above - looking for the best setup with an iMac and I just turned my monitor to portrait mode yesterday. (Also winter here 😛)

Liking it so far for video editing! It’s okay for most everything else (I really wish manufacturers stuck with 16:10) since my 4K is low on horizontal space with two windows (one on top, one on bottom).

I setup BetterTouch tool to maximize on left half, right half, top half, bottom half, and “maximize on next screen” using keyboard shortcuts. Super simple to manipulate windows quickly and efficiently.

I have an iPad in Sidecar mode below it that I tried using for Final Cut but it’s too small. I’m considering lifting the iMac and putting a 25” 21:9 ultra wide under the iMac for timeline scrolling - the dimensions are almost perfect.

Setup:
