I had the Pencil for the previous Pros and only used it occasionally. I didn't do drawing, it was used for greater precision when doing photo editing. Because the of the need to regularly plug it into the bottom of the iPad to 'wake' the Pencil as well as top up the charge, I simply didn't use it much unless I knew I was in for an extended period of editing.

Now with the new 2018 Pro, I decided to pick up a Pencil to go along with it to see if I used it more. I absolutely do. I don't keep it attached 24/7 but when I'm going to do any kind of editing I just attach it to the side of the iPad and lift it off when required. Having it stored on the iPad but always paired and fully charged just makes this a whole lot more convenient to me - to the fact I use it way more than I ever used the previous version.

I also think the smaller size and different finish make it feel more balanced and comfortable in the hand. For those of you who were on the fence with the previous version, I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the new one.

Totally agree. My experience with the original: 1. Every time I put it down it rolled away, often off the table or desk. :( 2. I had to remember where I left the dongle for charging because leaving it stuck in the bottom of the iPad seemed like a guaranteed way to break of the lighting end in the iPad, damaging the pencil AND the iPad. 3. Although I didn't realize it until I started using the gen 2 pencil, the highly polished finish was not great for handling.
