i am all apple everything with my iPad and MacBook Pro which I love. Any tips in getting my galaxy to be more Apple ecosystem compatible. Or should I switch to Windows? Looking at the surface book at the moment and my galaxy s2 tab.

Are you wanting to switch mobile phone device, are you talking tablets (referring to the surface) or change from using Mac computer hardware ?

Likewise explain your definition of why you are trapped in the Apple Eco System because this 'definition' has just become a quick throw away phrase these days and it's meaning/definition very much fluid ...

Many of us here are using Android mobile devices with our Mac computer hardware without any issues. Syncing to iTunes with iSyncr. File transfer via Android File Transfer or Photos app for photos from the android device after selecting PTP option on the android phone.

At the end of the day if you are referring to iMessage and Continuum and syncing of stock apps like reminders & notes / then if you don't want to use alternatives - just stick with the iPhone.

There is nothing wrong with the iPhone either.

Just because the grass may look greener, doesn't mean it is. If what you have is working for you, why do you feel better the need to change it,

If you just want to try something else, then you will have to simply accept that it's a different device and it won't work exactly like an iPhone does with Mac OS. If it doing so is important to you, then it's the wrong device for you.

Switching to Windows won't change any of that, but merely add more layers of obsufication as to why your devices are not the working together like the ones you currently have.

Is hangouts a decent imessage alternative at this point? If I make the switch I'll have to talk my wife into doing the same. I'd like to be able to send full photos and videos. When I tried android a while ago and she was still on iPhone photos and videos were awful to send.

No. Hangouts is most def not. Nothing beats iMessage and FaceTime when it comes to Android. All are hopeful that the new Allo and Duo apps, combined with Google Assistant will be the great equalizer.

At this point the only thing that is keeping me from switching is iMessage . Really can't live without that app right now especially since I have ****** reception at my house wifi messaging works great. All my friends and family use iMessage that's the problem in switching to another service. No one uses it

I'd welcome a switch to Allo when it comes out as my go to messaging platform...if Google would make it the default messaging app (and it could handle SMS as well...can't recall if that was mentioned). Unfortunately, I suspect the vast majority of Android users will still just use the default messaging app loaded by the phone OEM and Allo will end up being yet another failed attempt by Google at messaging.

Google definitely doesn't have a good history with messaging apps. This prediction is entirely justifiable.

In the same respect why should I switch away from whatsapp no matter how good the new duo is?

I'd really prefer everyone use telegram but I can't even get my wife to switch
