Hey just trying to find out if anyone with one of the new imac 17 " model has has had troubles with really low FPS in games such as Raven Shield,Ghost Recon...

I had a emac before i got this imac, and i dont see hardly any improvment, and somtimes it seems worse.

I called apple and the guy told me "Since those games are not uni. binary, they will not run much better than they did on a PPC mac"...What i am seeing though is really bad, like somthing you would see on 16 mb of vram.

Ghost recon frame rates on low settings are @ 25-40 fps (and thats a really old game now)
Rven Shield @ 15 to 35,40 and when people start shooting, it gets un-playable. These frame rates were also seen on low settings.

I have the 128mb radeon x1600.

Thanks, Musk

1.4.8 is my system version. If should have any of these games could you maybe check and see what kind of fps you get and post them here, if you have any of them. I know it seems odd to me to.

Apple is in a transition period. Prepare for serious hardware/software problems.

It's probably going to be the same thing with PC users and the transition to vista.

What did you expect? :) I mean, the non Universal Applications (especially heavy ones like games and Adobe CS2) run very slow because they're being translated in real time from PPC language to the Intel one. Why don't you install bootcamp and run the games in XP until the Universal Versions come out? I always thought that whoever buys an Intel Mac is prepared to accept the fact that not all Applications are Universal and that the Mac platform is going through a transition, the first Intel Mac's are not even a year old so if you want full performance from all Apps that the Power Pc Mac provides go ahead and get one, but as soon as this transition is over, the new Intel Mac's will leave the PPC ones in the dust such is the difference in speed and by then you'll feel regret for not risking in an Intel one and to have waited a bit :D:eek:
