Looking at the 27" iMac, BTO 1TB SSD. I will put in additional RAM memory after the purchase. I'm comparing The low end against the high end. There's a difference of $220 with the edu prices. Is it worth the $ If the iMac will be used for internet, email and some photoshop/PSE use? I'm concerned about the talk of the fan noise/heat with the higher processor. I'm used to a near silent 21.5" iMac with the 2009 iMac I have now....
Thanks in advance for replies.

I'd forget about the 1tb SSD, and get 512gb instead. Much better way to spend your $$$.
They put what you save into a better CPU/GPU.

HOWEVER -- been reading complaints that the i9 can run hot and be noisy as well (due to the internal fans ramping up).

If it was me (and I know "you're not me"), I'd get the "midrange" version.
These offer a nice "jump up" in processing power from the "base" model, without the heat and noise.

The "jump-up" is from a 3.0 to a 3.1, both 8th generation...would it be realized as a more powerful processor? If not the the only difference would be the jump from a 570x Graphic to a 575x. I'm not doing 4k video or heavy photoshop....just home/art photos and internet stuff....The $$ difference from the 512GB SSD to a 1TB SSD has shrunk a little...more in reach...and all data/photos would be kept on one drive.
Is it only the optional i9 that has the heat/fan issues?
