I recently replaced the battery on my iPhone 6S+. The battery seems to perform as it should, the only problem is that once I reach about 5% remaining, the phone suddenly perform alot worse. When I plug in the charger, the performance is as it should be. Does anyone have any solution as to what might be wrong?

I’ve seen this on my iPhone 6s too with a newish battery and I suspect it is the same software throttling that occurs with older batteries to prevent the phone from shutting down at lower charges (i.e. my phone works normally down to around 20%, at which point it seems a little sluggish, then it becomes practically unusable at around 10%). I try to avoid letting the charge drop below 20% for that very reason.

Thanks for your reply. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this from happening until it reach about 1% charge?

No and ideally, you shouldn't be running your phone down to such low battery charges. You should be charging when it reaches ~10-20%. As for the throttling issue, you can read more about it here, among many other sources.

No, and honestly fully discharging your battery is really hard on it and will shorten the life of your new battery. I tend to keep a small battery pack with me for “emergency” top ups in case I’m not near an outlet.
