Hey everyone, Im having a problem with my volume on my unlocked/jailbroke 2g. I can barely hear the phone ringing, and my call volume is very low.

Yes the volume in settings are all the way up.
Yes the side button is all the way up.
Yes the sound is enabled.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I had this problem, too.

Yes, the iPhone speaker isn't the best, is it?

I was looking for a way to increase my speaker volume and I found two ways. The first was having a jailbroken iPhone, and SSH'ing into it and replacing some preferences files which changed a few settings to increase volume. This did not work.

The second way was a bit more sketchy - but it worked. I read around on Engadget that if you can get a thin needle and poke through the holes of the speaker (the left one at the bottom), you can stab through the 'mesh' thing. It's there to keep out dust. This had worked wonders and my phone is significantly louder. There is hardly any chance of you breaking the speaker as it is somewhere higher up in the unit.

This method may sound stupid and kind of idiotic. But it really worked for me.

Note that puncturing it and possibly doing damage will not be covered by any warranty, it will in fact render all warranties null and void. Just remember that, and as for the volume, if it's not loud enough for you, put it on vibrate and wear tighter pants

How tight would my pants have to be? Would I have to be Emo? Would I have to listen to more System of a Down?

Haha, no, just don't wear pants that would look in place on a clown. I wear rather loose jeans and I can still feel the phone vibrate when it goes off. Also note the last part was a bit of a bad joke. Sorry, it was a long day. The first part though was dead serious, poking holes where they don't belong is the best way to ruin a warranty, even one you paid for

Haha, I was also joking. No worries. Ive taken apart several phones and this one is not in danger of being broken by holes poked. Now I know.

I do have a question regarding vibration
Is there a way to make the phone vibrate more times? it only does it once. At least mine.
Or if I change the ringer it will vibrate more? like Nokia´s do?

I´m only one week old in this iPhone era...

I just did this and my iPhone's volume is at least 50% louder than it was before.

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
