Is anyone else having issues with FB being open in the background it causes your overall volume to be lower than usual even at full volume? The only fix is to force close FB itself..... Is there a fix for this annoying ass bug?

The general widely accepted rule to using the Facebook app is to just close it fully after every use anyways. Because it doesn't seem to ever get completely suspended or turn off. So it can drain your battery and rack up a lot of background time (even with background refresh off.)

Yup. The worst part was it took me like a few weeks to realize Facebook was the culprit.
In the meantime I changed my aux cable, thought perhaps it was signal interference bla bla

Lower volume on what? The music app for example? Even when listening on earphones?

Yeah have this freaking annoying bug since, let's say, 1,5 year. The only way to fix it is to close the FB app in the multitasking every time you quit the app. It's quite annoying but you will get used to do it after some time.

I submitted a bug report for this. Basically Facebook is hijacking the volume control even after it closes, which shouldn't happen in iOS unless it's playing music or video (which it isn't).

I don't have video auto-play turned on. I don't even allow it to have background data usage! Yet FB is wasting my battery in the background (top 3 in usage stats). This is in addition to the hijacking of the volume control.

Submitted the bug report but haven't heard a reply.

If submitted to FB don't hold your breath

Background refresh is the same aa background usage which isn't something a user can control (short of just closing the app basically).

I'm happy to report that Facebook no longer eats even 1% of my battery life over the last 24 hours. What changed?
1. iOS 9.1 beta 5
2. Disabled contacts and calendar access to Facebook. Under iOS settings -> Facebook)

I'll re-enable just the calendar one and see what happens.

Edit: FB no longer hijacks the volume control for me!

Wondering if the latest version that was released today might have addressed this (along with background battery usage): https://www.macrumors.com/2015/10/22/facebook-ios-app-battery-drain-fix/

That's a good question, one way to test is to play a video from Facebook > go back to the main screen > pull up YouTube or Music and play video/song.

Going to try now.

**UPDATE**

Play a video from Facebook > scroll out of it > play a song from you Music > go back into Facebook and you'll notice the volume drop > go back to the Music app and give it a second or two > volume goes back to normal!

Looks like they finally addressed it!

I removed the fb app a few days back; sick of how it intermittently just destroys my battery with background usage (even with background refresh disabled). I use the mobile web page of Facebook instead now.

Seems like the latest version has addressed that part of it.
