hey all

i was on newegg and found this GeIL ram for $214 after rebate. i know frys had a set for much cheaper, but i dont see it on their page anymore... anyone know of where to find a better price than $214?

yeah i cant find that ocz ram i got from frys anymore, their site is strange, they only have like 6 3.5" harddrives i dont know whats up with that they have a limited selection compared to newegg, but some stuff is a lot cheaper

I haven't tried these but I would be very skeptical about fitting RAM with heat spreaders into a MacBook, iMac or Mini Intel.

Removing the spreaders voids the warranty, presumably.

yea, i got 2x2gb sticks from fry's for 160something shipping. if you go to fry's and search for OCZ (don't try and use their categories, they really miscategorize... everything), and you'll see it. they're currently out of stock, but if you keep checking back, it'll come up again. its a hot item, and it went in and out of stock for about a week before i could catch one.

I am new to Macs so forgive my ignorance but I purchased a MBP with 2GB and was all set to upgrade to 4 when a MAC friend mentioned that I should wait since the new OS would allow the MBP to access nearly unlimited memory and that 4GB chips, letting you have 8GB in the MBP were already in production for non-MAC systems and they would probably be ready for MACs when the new OS came out.
Anyone know if this is just a rumor or is there some truth here.

I have A-Data ram in my Windows PC and it's great RAM. They're one of the best suppliers of RAM for desktop PCs, so I don't see why notebook RAM would be any different. My desktop RAM also has a lifetime warranty, which I'm sure is the same for notebook RAM.

As far as the rebate is concerned, it's usually specified on the rebate form whether there is a limit of 1 per household...

In my experience, if you have a local Fry's, it's much better just to go down there to see what they have. Unfortunately, what's on their website isn't necessarily what you'll find in the store (ie: prices / stock).

just bought 2 sticks of a-data... there is a limit to one rebate per household but my girlfriend helped me out just glad to get it for under 200 bucks.
