Ps, and Acr were also updated. Besides new camera support and bug fixes, the release is about performance increases.

Note that 12GB of memory is getting to be the recommended min amount. I suspect that most Lr users use at least 16GB if they have a machine that can load that much.

It's also worth noting the new 'Folder Search' function. Extremely useful

I'm not a big folder person (just use dated ones) but the new way to create collections from folders with a click can be handy when say importing from someone else's folders, or ones with names you might have applied outside Lr. Nice to see them pay attention to the organizational part of Lr.

And it does seem faster; I esp noticed it with HDRs and Panos.

I would guess that the feature is one of many stepping stones to get us all off Classic and onto Lr CC over the next couple of years. Then Classic will likely have the same fate as standalone Lr.
