Regardless of selling to Apple through the trade-in option or sell to stranger, which has higher resell value?

In terms of absolute dollars, you lose more money on higher end models. For the upsell models, after one year you’ll probably get at best $50 for every $100 extra that you spend.

Based on experience, if I buy the 9.7" 2018 iPad wifi model or a 12.9" wifi model now and trade in when the new 12.9" 2018 version come out, how much do you think I can get back?

I can get only about $320 for the 12.9 2017 version according to Apple' website. That is so few! Wonder how much the trade-up cost of the 9.7" 2018 will be.

Trade-in value would probably be awful. If you sell on Swappa, maybe ~$250-280 for the entry level model? Kinda depends on the deals for brand new that retailers offer at that time, too.

Thanks. According to Apple, tradin-in price for IPP 12.9 LTE and LTE+wifi are the same. Air 2 is about $100 less than IPP 12.9. Seems like Air 2 has better resell value.
