Title says it all. This requires no contract and no sign up, just buy it.

Remember though the 520 is the AT&T version, however it can easily be unlocked to use on T-Mobile. I've done it.

Note: The 520 supports an external SD card and as of 8.1, you can store apps, music, video on the card, leaving free space on your phone. Enjoy.

Lumia 520 Unlock Code

Great deal. I actually got mine for the same price from the MS store.

BTW, could you please tell us where's the best place to get unlock codes for Lumias?

I posted this up a while back. Here is the link: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1695626/

If only it had 1GB of RAM. That is the only setback.

Yep. I agree. Still waiting for any word on the 530/535 (or whatever it is gonna be named for N America) that is supposed to replace the 520.

It does indeed look like a great buy; I'm really tempted to go out and purchase one to replace my iPhone 4. Does anyone know if the 520 is getting 8.1?

Already can get it with the developer preview.I posted up how to get it last week. And all Lumia phones will be able to get 8.1.
In fact, I have a 520 running it right now. :D

I will wait for the Moto E. Not interested in Windows Phone but who knows? 8.1 looks interesting enough.

But $50 is still a bargain for any smartphone these days even without a HD screen. Hopefully we will get smartphones with 720p go under $125 this year. Many of the local brands have started doing it here in Manila. MyPhone Rio with quad core and HD screen for $125 just avail recently.

Moto E and Asus Zenfone 5 has got me interested. Moto E can make the Moto G not look so much of a bargain anymore.

Yep. The 520 does a great job running 8.1. 8.1 is a mixed bag though... some things are steps forward (background wallpaper for tiles, notification area) other things are steps backward. But given how substantial the upgrade is (far more than the .1 designation might indicate), the 520 runs it as smoothly as 8.0.

Btw at 50$ it worths the purchase to try WP 8.1

Not really. You don't have access to the games that need the 1GB of RAM, otherwise it's a solid device. There were times on 8 that it was sluggish, but I'm seeing a huge improvement after putting the 8.1 preview on it.

I have a 925 coming from a 520 and I didn't find many differences so far.
