Hi folks,

I just released my new HomeKit App Lumify. Please feel free to post your feedback.

Website link: http://lumify-app.com
Appstore link: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/app/lumify-the-smart-home-app/id1003033186?mt=8

App description:

Lumify allows you to setup, manage and control all kind of smart home devices that are compatible with the Apple HomeKit standard. The App has been developed with a clear focus on user experience, stability and performance.

Lumify is compatible with many HomeKit devices, such as the Philips Hue line or the Elgato Eve accessories.

You can easily add new HomeKit devices, create rooms, zones and groups. Save your preferred settings as scenes that can be executed from the App, Siri, your Apple Watch or directly from the iOS HomeScreen (only available on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus).

Lumify provides unique functionalities, like:

· Manage scenes conveniently in folders
· Apply the current settings of a device (e.g. a lightbulb) to one or more other devices of the same kind.
· Capture the current settings of your lights to create new scenes quickly and easily.
· Control all devices of one group simultaneously.
· Use up to four custom scenes as quick actions on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Hi Brian,

thanks for your comment. There is no video available yet. But I will see if I can create one during the next weeks (maybe after the first update).

This is a great looking app. I particularly like how you have the color palette for Hue (and I assume other brands of) color bulbs. Trying to get the correct color using Hue and saturation had been a pain in other apps.

My only gripe, and this isn't specific to your app, is naming of devices. It looks like Homekit can have essentially two names per device? The accessory name, and then a service name? Some apps use the accessory name, and others the service. Since the two names cannot be the same it gets confusing.

Again, great app though.

Hi Sterling,

thanks for your feedback! Great to hear that you like my app.

You are right - the concept of accessories vs. services in HomeKit is a little bit confusing. For the moment most accessories only have one service - this is why there are some apps that display the services or some service properties (like the service name) as the device itself (including apps from device manufacturers like Elgato). But later, when we will have devices (accessories) with more than one service (imagine a light accessory with two lightbulbs that you can control separately), this concept will not work anymore.
What is currently missing in Lumify is the ability to see and change the service names for accessories. But this will be possible in a future release.

Best,
Marcus

The more I use the more I like it. One other suggestion though. Having a color temperature slider would be nice for color bulbs. Sometimes you want to make a color bulb behave like a color plain white one and it's hard to get the right color with the full rainbow of colors available.

If you want a beta tester for anything let me know. :)

Hey Sterling,

thanks for the feedback - The color temperature slider is a good idea. Unfortunately, different bulbs from different manufacturers behave differently - and HomeKit only provides parameters for hue and saturation. But I will see what I can do.
