It's not as good as a dSLR shot, but for an S3 IS, it's not bad

I can't take credit for this one. A friend took it using his Canon DSLR connected up to his reflecting telescope. Photo taken in Balmain, Sydney.

Clouds = Evil :(

I had my camera and tripod all setup waiting to take pictures of it. But no more than 10 minutes after it started, in came the clouds. Was I angry. Clear skies for 36+ hours before and then I get clouds RIGHT when I don't need them.:(

I waited five hours with the camera on a tripod and then the clouds blocked the view about an hour before the eclipse started. I tried to get a shot anyway, but the orange light pollution bouncing off of the clouds made it impossible to get anything. I lost the Perseid meteor shower because of the same problem.

At least there is another one coming this spring (if I remember correctly at least). I also think I remember reading that it will be much better for the central US (starting earlier so no need to worry about the sunrise interfering).

There is a partial solar eclipse on Sept. 11. If you can figure this out you will know where it can be seen...I think.
