Hi,
This is Jim from J-Squared Software. We just released LunarModule3D, which is a unique arcade-style 3d lunar lander game for the iPhone/iPod Touch. The game boasts outstanding graphics, some cool music, and enough challenging gameplay to keep you busy for hours.

The game also has some very innovative controls that take full advantage of the accelerometer.

One of our favorite features of the game is the terrain. The landing sites were generated from real NASA photos of the moon using shape-from-shading technology, so all of the landscapes (4 different Apollo missions and the Tycho Crater) are very detailed and very realistic.

The game is definitely worth a look - here are a few screenshots to give you an idea of what you can expect:

Reviewers have said that the desolate moon landscape and serene music makes for a "zen-like experience". In the "Forty Years of Lunar Landing" article here, LM3D was even recognized as the "most notable lunar lander game in the AppStore". Check it out! (And it's only $0.99!)

Thanks for taking a look! Feel free to shoot me an email, a post here, or a PM with comments, questions, concerns, etc. And please leave an iTunes review if you feel so inclined - we certainly appreciate those! :)

Looks sweet!

The game looks pretty cool based on the screenshots. Has anyone given it a try yet? How's the gameplay?

Plays pretty cool and tough to land on the mark...I do wish there was an option to kill the music tho..In fact the music plays for about 5 seconds after the app is closed !!

An option to kill the music, eh? Noted.

And I'm not actually sure why it keeps playing after the game is closed... I think when the game "closes" it's still actually open for a few seconds cleaning up resources and things - and the music gets cleaned up last. Apple makes it look like apps close quickly, when in reality they're still open for a few seconds - but you're not supposed to know (see) the difference!

I bet we can fix that though - we can probably just stop the music first. Lol.

Thanks for the feedback, though - I appreciate it!

money stealer!

preying on the sci-fi geeks and space nerds (like me) who MUST buy things like this!

downloading right now :D

@duelingdragons, danpass

Great! I really hope you guys like it - let me know what you think! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially since we're working on getting a first update out there!

Would it make the game too easy to use a sticky slider instead of button for the thrust?

The LEM had throttles. Maybe expand the scope of the game to begin with an undock from the CM forcing you to put yourself in the proper cone for eventual touchdown :D

I'm really not sure if it would make it too easy or too hard, having a slider? One suggestion that we're considering is a slider throttle that springs back down to zero when released. What do you think about that? That way, you don't have to use full thrust all the time, but new users won't go flying off into space because they accidently left the throttle up.

Well thank you all so much for the excellent feedback and ideas! Hope everybody enjoys the game!

Couple of bugs I've noticed..

Last night I quit the app and immediately opened my Mail program, and my whole phone crashed. I'm assuming this is because the app is still "running" in the background.

Also, the lander will land even if all three "legs" aren't on the pad.

Great game though, its quite fun. I am on the Apollo 17 mission now, and for some reason, I CAN'T figure out how to get the Gold medal. I always run out of fuel right over the last pad, but my speed is usually a bit too high.

Thanks for an awesome game!

Any records so far?

I've been able to hit an H.SPEED of 440 before "exceeding boundary" and altitude of 1019.

I forget the max vertical I've been able to hit lol
