Hey,

I haven't seen a thread on this, so I'll create one.

Lux Touch, App Store, is based on the board game called risk, it's free and well worth it. It's a great app, and I can't wait until Lux DLX comes out, with more features

Yeah it's a great game. i had just bought virtual conquest a couple of days before :( lux touch certainly blows virtual conquest out of the water. i asked the dev when the deluxe version was coming out and he said he was hoping by year end so it seems like the deluxe version is still a long way out but once it gets rolled out with downloadable maps and hopefully multiplayer, it will be a great game like galcon.

Yeah, he'll probably commit to the demand that'll command and stop working on the desktop version and only on this version and make it totally awesome =]

Just got this game myself- REALLY fun.

I'm a big Risk fan, but I haven't played it in a long, long time. I'm hoping that Lux Touch turns me into a Risk fanatic, and I'm hoping that the update is as expansive as the desktop version.

I took this with me tonight when I went babysitting. It was a really fun game but it sucked the battery dry like nobody's business :)

I want the update to allow you to choose your color, I want green! =]

I think its awesome for what it is...sure it could use a menu or a way to turn the sound off but I love the risk like attitude.

i think the developer should release a quick update that let ppl save. when i get a phone call or go back to home menu the game doesn't save total fun killer.

I don't get the cards thing.

Here's a post I made at toucharcade about the cards
The card rules are as follows:
-If you successfully take over at least one territory in a turn, you get a card
-There are 4 card types: army, tank, airplane, wildcard
-3 of the same type gets you a bonus army
- a set of each type, army, tank, airplane gets a bonus army
-wildcards can count as any (hence the name)
-the option to cash in your cards for bonus army shows up when you have one of the combos above.
-you can tap on the cards to chane which ones you want to cash if you have more than one valid set
-you can decline to cash in your cards if you have 4 or less (save them for later)
-you must cash in your cards if you have 5 or more
-wipe out an enemy entirely and you get his cards (this is damn useful anc can make or break a game)
-if you wipe out an enemy and have 5 or more cards you cash them in immediately and get to keep playing/destroying

Each time someone/anyone gets a bonus army, the size of the next bonus army anyone can get increases. In long games it gets crazy big, don’t let it go that long!

Also, each card represents a region (they actually appear over the region they represent when you view the cards). If you own that region you get a couple bonus armies to that area when you cash in the cards (usually not a big deal, but nice).

Lux Touch is a decent risk clone, and the dlx version looks to be fantastic and worth dropping some money on, but this version out now feels very "unfinished." I hate that you can't select your color or opponents, and it's AI only, no human players. I hate that it doens't save your game when you go to the home screen and it certainly does suck the battery dry a bit too quickly. I have found myself playing Virtual Conquest more lately simply because it saves if I have to leave to go back to the home screen, doesn't suck the battery dry, and lets me pick # of opponents, my own color, and I can play against another person in the room instead of only against AI.

I'll be excited to see what other features (besides those mentioned) go into Lux Deluxe as well as the price for them.

Except that this version of Lux is free so long as you can play a full game through to completion, it's plenty fine to let people know what they will get when they purchase the full version. While I agree some of the limitations are frustrating, it's still a full Risk clone for free.

My only real complaint is that near the end of the game I tend to experience some long pauses in the tens of seconds. Some kind of "thinking" icon would help in these cases, assuming it's not a bug.

Hey Zym, Yeah, personally, I feel that Virtual Conquest is well worth the money. Honestly, I like both games for various reasons, and have both installed and play them both.

I'm having fun with this game but I'm still trying to figure it out. What is the little graph chart thing they show with all the other numbers? When you attack, is it just random how it works out? Do you get to choose when you can use your cards? If I pick different cards it doesn't let me cash them unless I do it in whatever order the computer wants.

Does anybody have any strategies?

There's been an update!

it's 1.0.1 and it's just bug fixes but it seems to give you more armies to start out with

So this is what I have gained in knowledge from playing, the first icon column in the bottom right corner, the flag, are the amount of countries that color has, and then the little army guy represents how many armies that color has, 1 army per country and then 1 there after, so 1 if theres no number on top of a country, or 1 plus the number on top of a country; and then the cards icon represents how many cards you have; and then the graph represents how many armies each color is getting when it's their turn. It isn't random when you attack, you get a certain amount of armies depending on how many armies are already out there, and if you own a country. Then, when you attack, and win, it takes off the armies you killed, and the armies that were yours that were killed. And for the cards, when you take over a country sometimes you get a card, I don't know when or the ratio to when you do, but I know you get a card once a turn if you take over at least one country. Then you can either tap use now, or later when you have cards, and you get more armies per times people have used cards, so if n sets of cards have been used then 5, if one set 10, if two 15, etc. If I'm wrong correct me but I think this is the gameplay

And as for strategy, I just try to take over the country that most of my armies come out on, then I take over the weakest closest country, and repeat until I win
