My 2015 13" MBP is finally on its deathbed after many long years of faithful service, and as much as I'd love to splurge on the 14" or 16" MBPs, I'm looking for a budget-friendly upgrade for now.

I've narrowed down my options to the following two, which are also practically identical in price (just a $60 difference):
  • 13.3 inch M1 MacBook Pro / 8‑Core CPU / 8‑Core GPU / 1TB /16GB RAM
  • 13.6 inch M2 MacBook Air / 8‑Core CPU / 10‑Core GPU / 1TB / 16GB RAM
A bit about my needs:
  • Daily Photoshop & Illustrator usage with lots of layers
  • 4K video editing with color grading and basic effects. May lightly use After Effects in extremely rare situations a few times a year.
  • Lots of browsing and YouTubing. Also a horrifying tab hoarder (working on kicking the habit)
  • Always have background apps running (VPN, Clipboards, Emoji Keyboards, Discord, Mail Fetching, CleanMyMac, etc.)
  • Lots of long Zoom calling and screen sharing.
I am generally aware of the surface differences (active vs. passive cooling, touchbar vs. function keys, No MagSafe vs. MagSafe, 720p vs. 1080p webcams, etc.) but I'm hoping someone here could shed more insight beyond the spec sheet, given my specific use case.

Thank you so much!
