There is a gap inbetween the lid and the main body when the lid is shut and the rubber gasket does not make contact with the body unless you push on it. More so on left hand side where the usb-c ports are, but it is also present on the right side. There is a video of another person's macbook I found on the web which suffered from the same issue which I will attach to this post.

The device is still under warranty but way past the 14 day period. Does your device have the same issue? If not, what would you do if your device had the same issue?

Yes there is microscopic gap, deep enough for me to slide a piece of paper through in places, should I be sad enough to want to do that. I don't expect the manufacturing tolerances of these things to be within the specifications required for the engine of a Formula 1 racing car. I just expect the lid to close flush enough for it not to bother me. Less than half a mm definitely does not bother me.

Your expectations however might be different. If that's the case, maybe send it back and ask for an exchange. But if your next one is just the same, your OCD might just have to accept that these are indeed acceptable manufacturing tolerances.
