M1 28 Days old? BTO? Is the Info True?

Hi All,

Hope everyone is doing well.

I recently purchased the M1 MB Air , 16Gb/512Gb option.

After installing Coconut Battery App , I noticed it says that the machine was built 28 days ago (??..!?) . Is this information correct? so MacBooks are being Built-to-Order?? [Please see attached pics]

Makes Me Super Happy to be using such a 'fresh' machine

Battery info shows that the battery was manufactured 56 ago.

MacBook was ordered and picked up in Toronto, Canada. Order placed on the 26th of Sept.'22

So I wanted to ask if this information is True? Also, why does it show 500Gb instead of 512Gb?

Also, Requesting any helpful tips/Advice/App Recommendations for the M1.

I'm slowly transitioning from my MBP A1278 [16Gb/512Gb SSD] to the M1. (Still getting used to the keyboard etc.)

Very nice! Which color did you get? I just got a dumbed-down (i.e. base) model in Gold from Best Buy a little bit ago. But with discounts/trade-ins I just couldn’t pass it up on my tight budget, and so far it’s been great. I checked those stats and it didn’t seem quite as “fresh,” but I’ll post the exact numbers once I use it later today.

I went for the classic Silver color.

I was tempted to get the 'space grey' but saw some pics online, and the SG didn't seem to age well, saw scratches etc.

Base model should more than enough (depending on your usage of course).

Oh wow, the gold looks really classy! Good choice!

Apple tries to have as little stock as possible. So yes, your machine was probably built just before you received it.

Yes it should be correct. The battery for my MBP 16" M1 has a manufacture date of 20th of September 2021. The machine was shipped on the 25th of October 2021.

Unless you select the base model, all M1 MBA are BTO.

Some SSD space is used for a hidden recovery partition. And then some space is needed for the drive format APFS itself.
