The Mothership
I think we are very lucky that the Apple Silicon line was opened with the “old design” Macbooks. I see both the Air and the Pro as “SE kind of device”: best currently available chip with old design and more affordable parts and hardware features.
Apple was able to leverage the scale of existing manufacturing process and supply chain while giving us the best they have in terms or performance. With this in mind, I don’t think the next iterations will be primarily about speed and performance. It will be the same story we see with Pro lines of iPhones: better cameras, FaceID, expanded interface geared towards creatives and cutting edge materials.
I can’t wait to receive my Air, it is just incredible value for the money.

Yes of course...and i bet Apple will make the same thing like they do with their own iOS chip devices every year
Like when the gen2 Macbook Air will come up, the current one will get a discount, like they do in general with iphone and ipads
So i suspect in 2 years, we can get this Macbook air under 800$ or even under 700$ with some discounts
And lets not forget the current mac mini that will be under 500$
Going their own soft and hardw now...with the macs too....they will hit so many price points now
