Anyone who currently uses a mac laptop thinking about grabbing a mac mini to replace using a mac laptop for desktop use?
I currently use an M1 Air and have a 4k external monitor. I rarely if ever find that this computer is too slow, but it is the base model and I know there are times where it could be quicker. But between the extra power and the ability to rock two 27" 4k monitors I'm super intrigued to be able to potentially do all of this for under $1,000 even with the monitor/keyboard/maybe speakers?
My main concern is the complications of accessories. The speakers on my air are not the greatest but all I need for daily youtube/tv show viewing while I'm working and stuff. The speaker on the mini is supposed to be ok but I cant imagine that it's great, so now I need to think about computer speakers again? That's more stuff on my desk. I'll also have to pick up a keyboard, which for muscle memory purposes sounds annoying but I think something with a numberpad would actually be amazing once I got used to it.
Is anyone else in this same boat of considering this? I'd keep my air for the rare times I need my computer elsewhere, or travel. I think I'm just on the fence and need to be pushed in either direction, but maybe I'm missing some of the benefits and downsides as well.
